Sharky is the blue, shark-headed First Mate carrying a heavy cannon on his shoulder that you'll see splashed across most of FunPlus's ad creatives for Sea of Conquest: Pirate War — and for a while, that marketing push matched his actual in-game power. He launched as one of the best Legendary heroes in the game. Whether he still deserves that reputation depends heavily on which tier list you're reading and when it was last updated, which is exactly the kind of thing worth unpacking rather than glossing over.

Overview: what Sharky actually does

Sharky is a Legendary-rarity hero who fills the First Mate slot in the game's three-role fleet system (Captain, First Mate, Gunner). His archetype is Firepower / Artillery — random multi-target damage rather than a focused single-target burst or a support kit. He's designed to open a fight by spraying damage across an enemy formation, then step back while the follow-up damage from his debuff and your other heroes finishes the job.

That's also his core weakness: his signature skill stuns himself for a turn immediately after use, so he's not a hero you can just leave on auto and expect consistent uptime from. He needs a formation built around covering that dead turn.

Skills

Skill Effect Notes
Master Blaster (active) 5 random attacks against enemies, totaling roughly 540% of Attack in damage Self-inflicted Stun for 1 turn immediately after use — he can't act on the following turn
Thrill Smokes (passive, triggers on active use) Each random hit from Master Blaster applies a stacking Wound debuff, increasing damage the target takes by roughly 3% for the next 2 turns Stacks up to 3 times on the same target — most valuable when several heroes are hitting that same target afterward

These numbers and skill names are consistent across BlueStacks, GamingOnPhone, and MuMu Player's hero breakdowns, so treat them as reliable. One source (gamestouse) lists different skill names for Sharky ("Eye for an Eye," "Burnin' Twice as Fierce") — that's likely an error or a mix-up with another hero on their end, since three independent sources agree on Master Blaster and Thrill Smokes.

Where he actually sits in the meta

This is the part worth being upfront about: Sharky's tier ranking is not stable across sources, and that instability is the story.

  • BlueStacks, MuMu Player, GamingOnPhone, Pocket Gamer — all currently list Sharky in S-tier, citing Master Blaster's damage output as best-in-class for a First Mate.
  • AllClash's tracked history (updated through 2026) shows a clear decline: Sharky launched at A+, held A through the game's second and third seasons, slipped to B, and now sits at C+ as of their most recent season update — grouped with Griffin, Bones, Mad Dog, Oscar and Madame Lulu as heroes that newer Firepower releases have overtaken.

Both things can be true at once. Several tier-list sites simply haven't refreshed their Sharky entry since he was new; AllClash's season-by-season tracking captures the actual power-creep trajectory. Practically: Sharky is still a functional, cheap-to-invest Legendary that hits hard on paper, but don't expect him to out-damage the newest Firepower releases in a min-maxed end-game fleet. He's best treated as a strong mid-progression pick, not an auto-include at the top of your roster forever.

Formation and role usage

Sea of Conquest doesn't use a gear/stat-priority system the way MMOs do — progression runs through hero rarity/level, ship stats, and formation composition (which heroes fill Captain, First Mate, and Gunner on a given ship, and how that ship's role matches its crew).

Standard use: Artillery formation, First Mate slot. Pair Sharky with a durable Captain who can hold aggro (a tanky flagship-style hero) and a Gunner that amplifies artillery/random-hit damage, such as Oscar. The Captain absorbs the retaliation your fleet draws while Sharky's Master Blaster cycle spreads Wound stacks across the enemy formation for your sustained damage dealers to punish.

Alternate use: Cutthroat/crit-focused comp, as Captain. Community team-composition guides also cite a "Warhammer"-style lineup with Sharky as Captain alongside Lord Kojo (First Mate) and Luna (Gunner), built around the Cutthroat gear set for stealth and critical damage rather than pure AoE spread. This trades some of his multi-target value for a crit-scaling comp — worth testing if your roster leans that way.

Common mistakes

  • Treating Master Blaster as spammable. The self-stun means Sharky is offline every other turn by design. Running him without a Captain or Gunner who can cover that gap (soak a hit, or land damage while he's stunned) wastes the tempo his kit is built around.
  • Ignoring the Wound stack timing. Thrill Smokes only matters if something else is hitting the same target in the following two turns. Slotting Sharky into a formation with no other concentrated damage on his primary target wastes the debuff entirely.
  • Assuming "S-tier" from an older list still applies. Given how far his ranking has drifted on some trackers (A+ down to C+), don't build your whole fleet strategy around him being best-in-slot — check a recently updated source before committing heavy resources.
  • Running him without formation-role matching. His Artillery-type damage benefits from an Artillery-flagged ship and complementary Gunner; slotting him into a formation that isn't built for random multi-hit damage undercuts his actual value.

Is Sharky still worth investing in?

For early-to-mid progression, yes — he's a Legendary hero with genuinely strong burst numbers (540% Attack across 5 hits) and he's usually obtainable earlier than the newest S-tier Firepower heroes. For a maxed end-game fleet, treat him as a solid stopgap rather than the long-term answer; multiple trackers show his relative ranking sliding as newer heroes join the roster.

Why does Sharky's tier rating vary so much between sites?

Mostly update frequency. Some guide sites wrote their Sharky entry when he launched and haven't revisited it since; AllClash's season-tracked list is the one source here that explicitly shows his ranking moving over time, which lines up with how power creep tends to work in this kind of live-service roster.

Does the self-stun make Master Blaster bad?

Not bad, but it's a real tradeoff you have to build around rather than a minor drawback. 540% Attack spread across 5 random hits plus a stacking Wound debuff is strong output for a First Mate — but only if your formation can cover the turn he's stunned, whether that's a tanky Captain soaking retaliation or another damage hero finishing off Wounded targets while he's down.
