Cantarella doesn't play like a normal support, and that trips people up the first time they pick her up expecting a healer with a damage skill bolted on. She's a Trance-resource hybrid who heals the team as a side effect of dealing her own damage, which is exactly why she lands at SS tier, listed as "near-essential support for her team archetype," in our resonator tier list. If you're already running a Havoc team built around Camellya, she's close to a must-build. If you're not, she's a lot less urgent.
Early verdict: worth building immediately if you run Camellya or another Havoc hypercarry. Skip her for now if your current team doesn't have a Havoc main DPS to funnel into.
Build overview
Cantarella's whole kit revolves around a resource called Trance, capped at 5 points. You gain Trance by landing the third hit of her Basic Attack combo or by using a Resonance Skill in her Default Stance, and as long as she's holding at least one point, she can swap into Mirage Stance at will. Once she's in Mirage Stance, her entire moveset outside of her Resonance Liberation speeds up and hits harder, and every Basic Attack she lands there burns one Trance point to heal herself and her teammates. That's the loop: build Trance in Default Stance, burn it in Mirage Stance for both damage and team healing, repeat. A secondary resource called Shiver stacks up to three times whenever she spends a Trance point, and at three stacks her Resonance Skill in Mirage Stance becomes Perception Drain, a distinct skill only available at that threshold. That's why her skill priority isn't a simple "use the biggest number first" list.
Skill priority
| Skill | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Resonance Liberation | Highest | Her ultimate, the single biggest damage contribution in the rotation |
| Forte Circuit | High | Tied directly to her Trance/Mirage Stance loop, essentially mandatory to use on cooldown |
| Resonance Skill | High | Different versions available in Default Stance vs. Mirage Stance, both matter |
| Intro Skill | Medium | Sets up the handoff into her core loop at the start of a rotation |
| Basic Attack | Lower investment priority, but mechanically central | Her Basic Attack 3 is what actually generates Trance in Default Stance |
Echo priorities
The current community-tested setup pairs Cantarella's own Midnight Veil 5-piece set on herself with role-appropriate main stats on each echo slot: Crit Rate or Crit DMG on the 4-cost echo (whichever balances your existing ratio toward roughly a 1:2 split), Havoc DMG% on the 3-cost echo, and ATK% on the 1-cost echoes. Substat priority follows Crit Rate, then Crit DMG, then ATK%, then Basic Attack DMG Bonus, then Energy Regen, with flat ATK as the lowest priority. That's standard DPS-leaning substat logic, since Cantarella's healing scales off her own damage output rather than a separate healing stat.
Best weapon
Whispers of Sirens is the cleanest fit for her kit and the top pick if you can get it, since its passive synergizes directly with the Trance/Mirage Stance cycle rather than just providing flat stats. Stringmaster is a strong standard 5-star alternative if you don't have access to her signature weapon. It's a touch less specialized but still a meaningfully better pick than any 4-star rectifier for this build.
Rotation and team composition
Cantarella's team archetype is built around Havoc carries, and the clearest version of it pairs her with Camellya running the Havoc Eclipse 5-piece set as the main damage dealer, plus Roccia rounding out the trio on her own Midnight Veil set. The rotation opens with Cantarella: use her Intro Skill to enter the fight, build Trance through her Default Stance Resonance Skill and Basic Attack 3s, then swap into Mirage Stance and spend Trance points for both self-damage and team healing before her Forte Circuit comes back up. From there, hand off to Camellya during her Blossom window. Cantarella's buffs and the Havoc damage she's already funneled into the field carry directly into Camellya's uptime, which is the actual mechanism behind "near-essential support for her team archetype." She's not just topping off HP bars; she's amplifying the exact damage type her main DPS is built around.
Variant: lower-investment version
If you can't pull Whispers of Sirens or build a full Midnight Veil set immediately, Cantarella still functions as a serviceable healer-support on a generic 4-star Havoc-leaning rectifier and a mixed echo set, just with a noticeably lower damage and healing ceiling. The Trance/Mirage Stance loop itself doesn't require premium gear to execute; it just scales harder with it, which is the gap between "she works" and "she's near-essential."
Common mistakes
- Staying in Default Stance too long. Trance only does something for you once you're in Mirage Stance spending it. Sitting on a full Trance bar in Default Stance is pure wasted potential, not a safety buffer.
- Treating her healing as a dedicated sustain tool. Her heals are a byproduct of her Mirage Stance Basic Attacks, not a skill you can hold in reserve for an emergency. If the team needs healing, she needs to be actively spending Trance, not standing by.
- Ignoring Shiver stacks. Missing the window where Perception Drain unlocks at three Shiver stacks means skipping one of her more impactful Mirage Stance skills entirely.
- Building her like a generic healer with HP or healing-bonus substats. Her entire kit, including the healing, scales off her own attack and crit stats. A defensive substat spread actively weakens her compared to the DPS-leaning spread above.
Do I need Camellya specifically to make Cantarella worth building?
Not strictly, but the clearest version of her value shows up in a Havoc team with a main DPS she can funnel damage and buffs into, and Camellya is the most common and best-tested example of that archetype right now. Without any Havoc hypercarry in your roster, her ceiling drops noticeably.
Is Cantarella a healer or a sub-DPS?
Functionally both, and that's the point: her healing comes directly from her own Mirage Stance Basic Attacks, so building her for damage also builds her for sustain. There's no separate "healer spec" the way some other supports have.
Is Whispers of Sirens mandatory, or is Stringmaster good enough?
Stringmaster is a genuinely strong substitute, not just a placeholder. You lose some of the specialized synergy Whispers of Sirens provides, but the gap is a lot smaller than going down to a 4-star weapon.
